Have a quick question for an advisor?
How can we help?
Use the resources below to view helpful information answering frequently asked questions.
Who is my advisor and how can I make an appointment with them?
Your academic advisor depends on your major or if you are undeclared and exploring majors. Students who are undeclared and exploring majors will connect with academic advisors in the Navigate Hub for Exploring Students. Students with a decided major can find their advisor by logging into Navigate or visiting our Find My Advisor webpage. Students are able to schedule advising appointments through their Navigate360 account.
How do I remove my advising hold?
Students can review specific instructions for removing advising holds and other holds by selecting the Tasks tile on your CIS Student Homepage. After selecting the specific hold, there will be instructions on next steps to remove this hold. Academic advising holds, such as Milestone Advising and Academic Standards holds, will prohibit students from registering for classes until the required steps are completed.
How do I know when I can register for my classes?
Registration dates are based on your class standing and earned credit hours. You can find your specific registration time in the Registration tile on your CIS Student Homepage. After selecting the Registration tile, you will choose “View My Registration Dates” and the upcoming semester. A student’s exact registration dates and times are published on the same day as the new class schedule.
How can I tell how my credits will transfer over?
To see how your credits may transfer, you can use the Transfer Credit Equivalency Guide, which shows how courses from other institutions articulate to the U. If the credits you’ve completed at another university are not showing, this means our university has not reviewed these courses before. The Office of Admissions will initiate the transfer credit review process after receiving official university transcripts. Your official evaluation will appear on your degree audit after you are admitted. This process can take 6-8 weeks or more, depending on the time of year.
Where can I find information about college credit for prior learning?
Students enter college with various levels of knowledge, lived and learning experiences, and prior earned credits through traditional and non-traditional pathways. Students may have earned credit for AP exams. IB exams, concurrent enrollment, joint service transcripts, and other pathways. Learn more about your options to receiving credit for your prior learning.
How do I withdraw from a class after the withdraw deadline for that semester has passed?
Late and retroactive withdrawals are requested through a petitions process. These are reserved for students who experienced significant, documentable circumstances that prevented them from completing or withdrawing from a course by standard deadlines. Your guide through this petition process is the dean’s designee for your college/major. To get started, find your dean’s designee information.
