Our Mission


The Academic Advising Standards Council (AASC) is a standing committee of the Undergraduate Council (UGC). It serves as a policy recommendation body representing undergraduate academic advising staff across the university.

The AASC works collaboratively with campus partners to advance student success, persistence, and completion through consistent, high-quality undergraduate academic advising.

Our Charge


The AASC is responsible for: 

  Creating and maintaining a common set of undergraduate academic advising standards and practices

  Monitoring the implementation and delivery of advising standards

  Communicating policy expectations across campus

  Guiding the development of undergraduate academic advising policy through appropriate governance and approval channels

  Developing annual priorities in collaboration with campus stakeholders

  Reporting regularly to campus leaders and stakeholders

Membership


Voting Members

Voting membership consists of staff representatives appointed by each academic dean from:

  • Colleges offering undergraduate degrees
  • Units with significant undergraduate curriculum
  • Units with undergraduate academic advising responsibilities reporting to the Office of Undergraduate Studies

Ex Officio Members

Ex officio membership includes campus leadership from organizational units with significant responsibilities related to:

  • Undergraduate academic advising
  • Advising-related initiatives and programming
